The trouble with this stunted sequel is that the doughy, blobby-hatted Smurfs are mostly window dressing for an abrasive slapstick bash built around a tiresome kidnap plot .... Often surreal, Waking Life transcends boundaries of technology, imagination.. Puss made his debut in "Shrek 2," then did time in the two decreasingly funny sequels.
